How do I register as a working student?

Oplossing

You can register as a working student if your working situation meets one the following conditions:

  • you receive a scholarschip from the Flemish Community and have the status of independent student
  • you are a job seeker entitled to benefits. The training program does (not) fit in a pathway to employment proposed by VDAB.
  • you work less than half-time due to family responsibilities or informal care
  • you are self-employed (or professional) as your main occupation
  • you work less than 80 hours per month but at least half of a full time contract as an employee (for teachers)
  • you work at least 80 hours per month as an employee

AND

  • You are enrolled in a bachelor's, master's or preparatory program, a postgraduate or a micro-credential
  • under a diploma contract (part-time or full-time) or a combination of an exam contract (diploma-oriented) and a credit contract.

 

The registration procedure can be found here (in Dutch): https://www.uantwerpen.be/nl/centra/centrum-voor-werken-en-studeren/registratie/werkwijze-registratie/. Make sure to upload the required documents. An employer certificate in English is attached to this FAQ.

Job students and PhD students cannot register a a working student.
